M+P Present Futuristic Pier Design

Marchese + Partners (M+P) have teamed up with Portberg Properties, to present an Expression of Interest to Rockdale Council for the Brighton pier and marina at Brighton-Le-Sands in Sydney.

The Brighton pier and waterpark will stand as a living breathing centre piece for the Rockdale municipality and will include unique and exciting community facilities, to be enjoyed by residents of the area and Greater Sydney, as well as visitors from around the world.

A public waterpark will be the focal point of the pier and will merge seamlessly into the surrounding Botany Bay, providing an exceptional leisure and entertainment facility.  The pier’s innovative design will also provide considerable retail opportunities, a restaurant, a 150 berth marina and a large public gallery space.

The proposed development not only adds vibrancy and life to the existing Botany Bay beach front, but will become a significant attraction to both the people of Sydney and tourists visiting the area.  The benefits to local business and commerce are expected to be substantial and Brighton pier and marina has the potential to become a popular tourist and leisure destination.

The M+P design blends functionality with form. The breathtaking sculptural form of the pier is unique and will provide a memorable image for the area whilst also providing significant recreational, commercial and cultural facilities.

Steve Zappia, Managing Director of M+P in Sydney, said that the project fits in perfectly with M+P's new Innovation initiative.  “M+P Innovation played a key role in the final design of the pier.  A number of innovation workshops were held with the builders, services consultants and the developers to assist M+P in finding original design solutions for this challenging project.”

The design and proposal has been submitted to Rockdale Council for their consideration, with a decision to be made in 2009.

Work Commences on Neutral Bay Apartments

Construction has started on M+P's design for an apartment building in Grosvenor Street, Neutral Bay. The boutique development, approved by North Sydney Council in 2004, provides a mix of commercial and residential space.
Beautifully designed, the five storey building features a timber slatted exterior that accentuates its stunning horizontal proportions. A perfect example of M+P's dedication to modern design excellence.

M+P Bundanon Trip

M+P chose Bundanon as the destination for our 2008 team trip. Gifted to the Australian people in 1993 by Arthur and Yvonne Boyd the Bundanon property is located on 1,100 hectares of pristine bush land overlooking the Shoalhaven River, near Nowra in New South Wales, two and a half hours south of Sydney. The team stayed at the award winning Arthur and Yvonne Education Centre, designed by Glenn Murcutt, Wendy Lewin and Reg Lark - an architectural icon in an amazing rural setting.

Gerringong Town Centre

Marchese partners has submitted a development application for a mixed use development in the south coast town of Gerringong. The project incorporates 32 residential apartments and 16 shops and once completed will help re-invigorate the Gerringong town centre.

The development is centred around a north facing public plaza that will enjoy uninterrupted views of Werri Beach.  Rather than building over the total site area, Marchese partners has proposed that a large public plaza is created on the site and the floor space re-disturbed around the site in order to create a much more interesting and viable development. The plaza will provide a significant public benift to what is the largest parcel of undeveloped land in the town.

The design of the building has been broken down into smaller elements to blend harmoniously with the surroundings in both scale and in the choice of materials and finishes. Following on from the success of Cammeray Square, this project again demonstrates M+P's ability to 'think out side the square' by creating innovative, viable and superior design outcomes.

Kantarra, Lindfield nears Completion

Marchese + Partners gained approval for Kantarra Apartments in Lindfield in 2004. The project was one of only 2 projects approved by Kuringai Council at that time as part of the Kuringai LEP 194 sites and was described by Council's urban planner as an 'exemplary development'. The project on the Pacific Highway incorporates 88 residential apartments in two buildings with basement parking for 112 cars. There is substantial landscaping to 50 percent of the site and an integrated public through site link.

The DA received only 3 objections from local residents and was approved by Council achieving an FSR of 1.3:1 well above the 1.0:1 being achieved on other sites in the area.
